In commemoration of the International Day of Education, the Education Above All Foundation (EAA) has announced a series of impactful activations to emphasise the significance of education and address critical issues facing children and youth globally. Aligned with this year's theme, 'Learning for Lasting Peace', these initiatives reflect EAA Foundation's steadfast commitment to making a positive impact through transformative educational interventions.
In collaboration with Qatar Foundation (QF), the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), Unesco, and renowned Qatari photographer Azzam al-Mannai, EAA invites the public to experience a compelling exhibition at Education City. Al-Mannai's poignant images offer a unique perspective on the lives of formerly out-of-school children in Pakistan, illustrating the transformative power of education.
A panel discussion on Education Under Attack, featured development experts including EAA’s Educate A Child executive director Dr Mary Joy Pigozzi and Protect Education in Insecurity and Conflict, executive director Maleiha Malik, and students from Sudan and Palestine shed light on the multifaceted dimensions of the right to and protection of education within challenging contexts.
Collaborating with Msheireb Downtown Doha, EAA Foundation presents an installation titled 'The Last Class'. The artwork consists of 110 bags representing each day from the beginning of the war up until International Education Day, symbolising the urgent need for global attention to education in crisis zones.
EAA has released a position paper on the situation in Sudan, with a focus on policy and law. The publication, titled 'A Lost Generation', addresses the challenges faced by children in Sudan and advocates for urgent policy interventions.
In collaboration with Expo 2023 Doha, EAA hosts a session highlighting the critical connection between education and sustainable peace. The session will feature insights from EAA’s PEIC head of law and policy, Siraj Khan, emphasising the role of education in fostering lasting peace.
Another event, conducted at the Expo Innovation Centre is the ‘Personality Matters Workshop’ in collaboration with Silatech which explores the significance of personality development in the context of education and employment.
Reach Out To Asia, a programme of EAA Foundation, hosts a workshop conducted by Erthna at the EAA Pavilion at Expo 2023 Doha, focusing on innovative approaches to climate education.
