Qatar showed a remarkable participation in the ongoing 55th Cairo International Book Fair, with a wide-range of multi-field publications.
Themed 'Creating Knowledge, Preserving the Word', the event kicked off Thursday and runs through Feb. 6.
The booths of Qatar's Ministry of Culture and several Qatari publishers attracted large audience, who sought to learn about the Qatari intellectual product on various branches of knowledge.
The Qatari publications included novels, law, social sciences and humanities, in addition to books for children and youth.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Director of the Libraries Department at the Ministry of Culture, Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain said that the Qatari participation aims to disseminate the State of Qatar's cultural and intellectual production.
The participation also comes in the context of promoting the Doha International Book Fair to attract new and distinguished publishers, he added.
Among the Qatari publishers taking part in the event are Dar Al Watad for Publishing and Distribution and the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies.
Al Buainain added that the Qatari publications highlight the Qatari heritage along with various fields of literature, politics and economics.
The event brings together 1200 publishing houses from 70 nations, including the State of Qatar.
Norway is the guest of honor of this edition which features 550 events ranging between seminars, conferences and activities on a contingent of intellectuals and thinkers of Arabic culture.
