Four new public parks have been introduced to Al Wakra Municipality. They are Al Arak, Al Khazayim, Al Mashmoom, and Al Mashaf, bringing the total number of parks within the municipality to ten, engineer Mohamed Hassan al-Nuaimi told local Arabic daily Arrayah.
These parks include all the components and public facilities that serve the community, in addition to several other green spaces distributed within the municipality. The official pointed out that in 2019, the total green spaces within the jurisdiction of Al Wakra Municipality amounted to 160,000sqm.
It is expected that the total green area will reach approximately 2.1mn sqm by the end of this year. He also highlighted the issuance of 16 demolition orders and 26 maintenance orders for as many properties.
Al-Nuaimi said: "During the current year, we will see the completion of several beautification projects, including those surrounding the Argentinian neighbourhood, in the western area of Al Mashaf, the initial handover of the project at the entrance of Al Wakra city and the main street of the city, the initial handover of the project for five intersections on Al-Majd Road, and the final handover of the project for the western intersection. In addition, there will be the initial handover of the beautification project for residential neighbourhoods south of Al-Mashaf, and the commencement of beautification works in residential neighbourhoods in the central area of Al Wukair."
These projects are being regularly monitored by specialists from Al Wakrah Municipality to ensure that the highest standards of quality are followed.
Regarding the enforcement of law no 15 for 2010 on the Prohibition of Workers Camps within Family Residential Areas and its amendments by law no 22 for 2019, the official pointed out that 478 buildings have been spotted across the municipality in 2023 violating this law, with 87 violation reports issued and around 110 buildings evacuated. Work is still going on to take the necessary procedures to address such issues.
Meanwhile, around 2,800 abandoned vehicles have been spotted during last year, with 850 of these removed by the municipality and the process continuing to combat such unacceptable phenomenon.
Regarding food health control at Al Wakra, al-Nuaimi pointed out that the health control section carried out more than 44 inspection campaigns at a rate of about four campaigns a month during last year. The inspectors ensure that food on display at the local market comply with the highest food health standards, in addition to the other surprise inspection campaigns.
