Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar was sworn in as Malaysia's 17th king on Wednesday.
Sultan Ibrahim, 65, will succeed Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, whose term ends on Jan. 30, 2024.
Malaysia's Conference of Rulers, at a special meeting on Oct. 27, 2023, agreed to declare the Sultan of Johor State, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, as the new king of the country for a period of 5 years.
The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, has also been elected as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the same five-year term.
