The Qatari national team for athletes with disabilities continued to make achievements in the 4th West Asian Para Games, currently being held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, and concluding Saturday with the participation of 513 athletes representing 12 countries competing in seven sports: athletics, table tennis, badminton, goalball, wheelchair basketball, boccia, and powerlifting.
The Qatari athletics team was able to add three new medals to its tally, two silver and one bronze, at the end of its competition, bringing its total tally to seven colored medals, four silver and three bronze.
The three medals in the athletics competitions were won by Ali Radi Arshad, who won the silver medal in the 800-meter wheelchair race, and Sarah Masoud won the silver medal in the discus throw competition and won a bronze medal in the javelin throw competition, and player Mohammed Al Kubaisi came in fourth place in the 200-meter wheelchair race.

The Qatari delegation will also participate in the Sharjah International Open Para Athletics Meeting from Feb. 3-6.
Head of the Qatari delegation to the competition Khalid Al Shoaibi praised the distinguished performance and achievements made by the Qatari national team players in the 4th West Asian Para Games after they won seven colored medals in the athletics competition, four silver and three bronze.
Al Shoaibi said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that despite the strong competition and the participation of the Asian champions in the competition, the Qatari national team players were able to climb the podiums, compete against the Asian stars, and win seven colorful medals in the athletics competitions.
The head of the delegation affirmed that the competition, which witnessed the participation of 513 players representing 12 countries, was characterized by excitement and competition between the champions and stars of Asia in various competitions, indicating that the Qatari players spared no effort and gave their best to win trophies, ascend to the podiums and raise the Qatari flag high in this continental forum.
He explained that these achievements were reached thanks to the support of Qatar Paralympic Committee and its contracting with competent coaches, and also thanks to the intensive training, continental and international foreign participation, and their contact with world champions, which contributed to raising their level and enabled them to achieve positive results.
He pointed out that the Al Hadaf team provided a strong performance in the competition and will compete Friday in a ranking match for third place, seeking to climb the podium and win bronze.
The West Asian Para Games include the participation of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Yemen. (QNA)
