The Qatar chapter of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) recently held the ‘Leadership Unveiled: Induction of 2024 Officers and Technical Symposium.’
Among the notable personalities gracing the occasion were Philippine ambassador Lillibeth V Pono and the head of Assistance to Nationals, Migrant Workers Office, Cherry Rhose Cureg. Philippine Professional Organisation – Qatar chairperson Teofilo Tongson Jr gave the keynote message.
The highlight of the evening was the oath-taking ceremony, officiated by Pono, which saw the official induction of the 2024 Board of Directors. Leading the charge as the newly inducted president is Dave G Sanchez, together with the chapter 1st vice president, Alfonso Belito C Betita; 2nd vice president, Danica Rose M Alcantara; secretary Babylyn P Segovia; treasurer Marie Joy E Reyes; auditor Rosendo B Berja Jr; PRO Mikaela L Espiritu-Bilal; business manager Mark C Lepiten; Sergeant-at-Arms Leo G Manrique; committee chairmen Reynante P Apolinar for Membership, Ellezer B Jayoma for Ways and Means, Maria Michelle A Revillosa for PICE Qatar Affairs, Liza Lorena F Abinal for Honours and Special Professional Licensure Examination, Victoriano P Bago Jr for Continuing Professional Advancement, and Mario S Oligo for Publications and Information.
The oath-taking comes after the official turnover of the president’s banner and the gavel from the immediate past president Elvin D Fajutagana, and the charging of office by the founding president, Roy L Baquiran.
Pono lauded the PICE Qatar chapter for its continuous efforts in fostering unity and excellence within the Filipino engineering community in Qatar. She expressed optimism about the new leadership and its potential to further strengthen the organisation's impact.
Cureg acknowledged the crucial role that organisations like PICE play in the development and wellbeing of overseas Filipino workers. She pledged the government's support and collaboration to ensure the welfare and success of Filipino engineers in Qatar.
The technical symposium, held in conjunction with the induction ceremony, provided a platform for engineers to engage in discussions on the latest advancements and challenges in the field. The symposium featured presentations from distinguished experts and facilitated knowledge-sharing sessions, showcasing the commitment of PICE Qatar to professional development.
Sanchez expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and the entire 2024 Board of Directors. He outlined his vision for the upcoming year, emphasising collaboration, innovation and community outreach as key pillars to elevate PICE Qatar to new heights.
