Retailers and service providers at the Old Doha Port has seen an increase in business and customer turnout over the past few weeks, amounting to around 500% rise compared to the period before the ongoing AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that large number of the fans have been visiting the old port as one of the new hot tourist destinations in the country.
Retailers there said that there have been an influx of GCC visitors to their outlets, in particular Saudis and Emiratis.
They said that the Old Doha Port boasts of restaurants that serve a wide variety of food selection from the Arab, Asian and European cuisines, in addition to the local Qatari dishes.
Further, there are shops that sell souvenirs and artefacts at reasonable prices.
The number of visitors to the area rises dramatically after 4pm daily, with many cafes and eateries at full capacity.
