The Horseback Archery Equestrian Sport Centre in Doha has concluded a local competition in collaboration with Al Samriya Riding School. Fuad al-Madahka, director and founder of the centre, said the warmup competition is part of the annual competition schedule, which will continue throughout this year.
One of the distinctive features of each competition is the participation of new riders. The winners were Abdulaziz al-Qahtani in first place, Abdulrahman al-Issa in second place, and Adel Abdulrazzaq in third place in one category.
Abdulaziz al-Qahtani was ranked first, Abdulrahman al-Issa ranked second, and Faten Ramadan ranked third as the first female participant in local competitions in another category.
Abdulrahman al-Issa, administrative director of the centre, pointed out the most significant achievements of the centre in 2023. Al-Madahka was appointed a member of the Board of Directors of the International Kassai-Master Union, affiliated with World Federation of Equestrian Archery (WFEA). Badr al-Marri got first place in shooting at the World Cup qualifiers.
Abdulrahman al-Issa was second in the Asian Championship in Iran. Abdulaziz al-Qahtani was third in the sequential competition. The GCC Horseback Archery friendly championship was held with the participation of prominent horse riders from the GCC countries to promote and exchange experiences.
The year 2023 also saw a friendly championship between the Qatari team and the Indonesian team, participation in the "TID in Arabic" conference by presenting an archery presentation in April last year, and expanding the scope of ground archery training in co-operation with several entities.
There were nine riders in the local horseback archery courses. The number of horsemen and horsewomen in Qatar since the inception of the sport in 2014 has reached 34, the statement added.
