Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud awarded a certificate of recognition to Qatar Charity (QC) for supporting education, humanitarian work, and development in Somalia, a statement said on Monday.
The honouring took place at a ceremony in Mogadishu on the commencement of the study of the Dr Hassan Sheikh Mahamud Presidential PhD Scholarship Programme, part of a joint initiative between the Somali Presidency, the QC, and the United Nations University for Peace (Upeace).
The event was also attended by Somalia’s Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, acting charge d'affaires of the Qatar embassy in Somalia Mohamed al-Shamari, QC Somalia Branch director Abdulfatah Adam, Upeace Africa director Samuel Ewusi, Somalia programme director Dr Mohamed Yusuf, and the Somalia President's economic adviser, Mohamed Osman.
