As part of the cancer treatment centres support project, the representation office of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in Lebanon has opened a department at the Turkish Hospital in Sidon.
Implemented in co-operation with Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and funded by QRCS, the project is aimed at improving the healthcare services provided for cancer patients at the hospital.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Health Dr Firass Abiad, Turkish ambassador to Lebanon Ali Barıs Ulusoy, Mayor of Sidon Hazem Badee, local community leaders, representatives of international organisations and the hospital’s managers and staff.
Dr Mohamed al-Sousi, head of QRCS office in Lebanon, stated: “Now, we are launching a new charitable project by QRCS. Such projects are part of the helping hand always given by Qatar to Lebanon".
He highlighted several health and relief projects currently in progress, such as the support of minor and medium surgeries and enhancement of primary care centres.
“In co-operation with the MoPH, we have so far upgraded 15 cancer treatment departments at public hospitals, including seven new and eight existing ones," he added.
