The Qatar's 11th International Agricultural Exhibition-AgriteQ 2024, wrapped up Tuesday at venue of the International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha Qatar, which hosted 249 local and global exhibitors, 106 local farms, 40 participants at dates market and 30 participants at honey market.
The seven-day exhibition featured numerous events and partnerships which clearly deepened the share of expertise among participants and played a critical role in reinforcing the global cultural and agricultural exchange, with the exhibitors strongly praising this edition which constituted a distinguished opportunity to converge active stakeholders of the Agri sector at the local and global levels to share agricultural expertise.
Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Director of the Agricultural Affairs Department Yousuf Khalid Al Khulaifi said the exhibition was an active platform to showcase top-notch Agri technologies in agriculture with the participation of 280 entities and 100 local and international experts in this event to further upgrade production and achieve self-sufficiency and food security.
Cutting-edge agricultural technologies were showcased, including the utilisation of AI applications in agriculture and sustainable organic farming, as well as using robots, indicating that Qatar gives top priority to advancing the overall Agri sector, upscaling the awareness on the state-of-the-art practices and sustainable Agri technology, Al Khulaif highlighted.
He added that the exhibition was a platform primarily devoted to reinforce cooperation and forging productive partnerships in agriculture, in addition to sharing expertise and technologies, resulting in launching cooperative ventures that strengthen innovation and advancing the Agri sector, emphasizing that the event generated a positive impact on the local agriculture through supporting the participating firms and bolstering trade and investment activities in agriculture, in addition to upscaling the public awareness of the significance of agriculture in achieving self-sufficiency and providing a healthy and sustainable food.
The last day of the event included holding a workshop on life and environment technology, building sustainable circular bioeconomy which was broadly revolved around methods of leveraging biotechnology in optimizing Agri sector performance and achieving the environmental and economical sustainability.
The event was punctuated by a workshop delivered by coordinator of Environmental Sciences Program Department of Biological & Environmental Sciences at QU Dr. Nabil Zouari on the importance of pursuing biological solutions in building a circular bioeconomy.
Zouari reviewed the cutting-edge innovations utilized in this field, noting the importance of cooperation among public and private sectors to strengthen the utilization of biotechnology in multiple fields, such as agriculture, water treatment and waste management. The workshop displayed the best models of life technology and environment, in addition to sharing expertise and internalizing the ideas and methods of applying these solutions in Agri sector and environment in Qatar.
Aquaculture had a vibrant and powerful presence at the exhibition as well, during which the firms showcased the cutting-edge technologies and innovations in this field.
