Director of Government Communications Office meets Representatives of Technology Companies Participating in Web Summit Qatar 2024

HE Director of the Government Communications Office and Chairman of the Web Summit Qatar 2024 Organizing Committee Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani met with representatives of the world's largest technology companies participating in the Web Summit Qatar 2024 - the largest technology event in the Middle East and Africa.The meetings, which were held over the second day of the summit at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, included discussions with representatives of Meta Group - Head of Strategy, Operations and Public Policies for Africa, the Middle East and Turkey Region Kojo Boakye, Head of Public Policy in the Gulf Cooperation Council Anas Metwally, Regional Director for Public Policy for the Middle East and North Africa Basma Ammari, and Vice President of Product Policy and Strategy Andy O'Connell.HE Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani also met with representatives of Google; CEO of Google in the Middle East and North Africa Anthony Nakash, and Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy Poliana Geha.The Director of the Government Communications Office and Chairman of the Web Summit Qatar 2024 Organizing Committee met with CEO of Ascential Philip Thomas, CEO of Omnicom Group John Wren, co-CEO of Candle Media Kevin Mayer, CEO of Tubi Media Group Paul Cheesbrough, and General Partner of Blockchange Ventures Ken Seiff.The discussions revolved around the active participation of these companies in the Web Summit Qatar 2024 and its various activities, which included panel discussions, educational sessions and presentations highlighting their latest developments, in addition to their pavilions which attract thousands of attendees.The meetings reflect Qatar's strong relations with major international companies, and its continuous efforts to develop the technological ecosystem to serves the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy - the final stage of Qatar National Vision 2030.The meetings also reflect the importance given to the Web Summit Qatar 2024 by major global technology companies wishing to promote their presence in Qatar and the region. This underscores the importance of the current edition in introducing the Arab world and the role these companies would play in opening up opportunities for youth and entrepreneurs in this geographical region and beyond.Run over four days, the summit see the participation of 15,453 attendees from 118 countries. It hosts numerous workshops, panel discussions and dialogues focusing on topics such as financial technology, cloud computing, biotechnology and smart cities.The inaugural edition of the Web Summit Qatar 2024 which Qatar hosts over five years, witnessed the largest gathering of startups companies in the Middle East, with 1043 startups participating from 81 countries, 10% of which are Qatari companies seeking to seize the opportunity to build partnerships, engage with investors and exchange knowledge and experiences with the participating global companies.The Web Summit Qatar 2024 marks a new historical milestone added to Qatar's series of achievements, after its exceptional success in hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Expo 2023 Doha, and the AFC Asian Cup 2023.
