A high-level German economic delegation participated in the Web Summit Qatar 2024, to enhance economic cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Federal Republic of Germany, and discuss investment opportunities in artificial intelligence, health technology, finance, and cybersecurity.
The delegation, which included many heads of German companies working in the field of artificial intelligence, health technology, and financial technology, confirmed its interest in investing in the Qatari market and establishing partnerships with Qatari partners.
We are pleased to join our efforts with the German Federal Association for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises to support German companies to explore the attractive business environment in the State of Qatar and the opportunities available in order to achieve their ambitions and expand their business in Qatar and the region, HE CEO of Investment Promotion Agency Qatar Sheikh Ali Alwaleed Al-Thani said.
For his part, HE Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Qatar Lothar Freischlader said that the Web Summit Qatar 2024 shows once again that the State of Qatar has a fertile ground for investment in the field of innovation and technology. HE praised the representative office of German Federal Association of Small and Medium-sized Businesses in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries for its continuous contribution to introduce German companies to the Qatari market and support the development of economic cooperation between the two countries.
In turn, head of the economic delegation, Dr. Sophie Chung, confirmed that this visit is the first of its kind for companies participating in the Web Summit Qatar 2024, and aims to open channels of communication and cooperation between German companies and Qatari governmental and private entities, as well as to explore investment opportunities in the country. She noted that the delegation held several high-level meetings with various governmental and private entities to discuss potential cooperation and exchange of experiences in advanced technology fields.
In the same context, Dr. Reinhard Witschel, one of the major investors, expressed his happiness and admiration for the State of Qatar, noting the multiple investment prospects it enjoys and the importance of cooperation and potential investments in the region.
For his part, Managing Director of the representative office of German Federal Association of Small and Medium-sized Businesses in the GCC Christian Schwippert, stressed the importance of promoting investment in the field of small and medium enterprises, noting the organization of many delegation visits and accompanying events and workshops in various economic sectors within a short period since the opening of the regional office in Doha.
This visit comes in the context of strengthening economic ties between the two countries and the economic development the country is witnessing. These efforts are expected to open new doors for economic cooperation between the two countries and strengthen bilateral relations in the sectors of innovation and advanced technology, Schwippert added.
The Web Summit Qatar 2024, which concludes today, will witness many workshops, dialogue sessions, and discussions focusing on topics including financial technology, cloud computing, biotechnology, and smart cities, in the presence of thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, and technology sector leaders in the world.
