HE Director-General of Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi met here today with a media delegation from the New China News Agency (Xinhua) currently visiting the country.

The meeting discussed aspects of joint cooperation in the media spheres and ways to enhance and develop them, in addition to discussing opportunities for exchanging expertise between the two agencies.

During the meeting, HE Ahmed Al Rumaihi underscored exchanging visits and experiences between QNA and Xinhua, which contributes to strengthening cooperation between the two agencies and developing their news services considering the capabilities and experience they accumulated over decades.

In turn, the Xinhua delegation expressed the desire to strengthen cooperation with QNA, in a way that serves the outstanding relations between the two friendly countries.

Meanwhile, the Xinhua delegation toured the headquarters of Qatar News Agency, and were briefed on its pioneering experience and prominent media role at the local, regional and international levels, as well as the development it has witnessed and is still witnessing at the professional, technical and technological levels, in order to enhance its media services spanning nearly half a century, thus forming one of the leading news agencies regionally and internationally.


The Xinhua delegation was also briefed on the various departments and editorial units of the News Department, which include Arabic editorial desk, English editorial desk, digital content, photography and video, local and economic news. They listened to a detailed explanation about the mechanisms of journalistic work in it, the news services provided in various languages around the clock, and the path of development that these services have witnessed in line with technological advancements in the field of media and communication.

The visiting Chinese delegation also learned about modern systems, technologies, advanced programs, and the use of artificial intelligence techniques in QNA, which contributes to providing quick and comprehensive news services for local events in text, images and video, through various multimedia, With extensive coverage of international political, economic, cultural, sporting and artistic events and developments.

The delegation was also briefed on the quality system at QNA and its role in institutional administrative performance, which was reflected in the quality of news services provided, and on the efforts being made to develop those systems to keep pace with the latest international standards.
Within the framework of the introductory tour, the Xinhua News Agency delegation reviewed QNA's strategy in training and qualifying its media cadres through its training center, where they learned about the latest techniques and training programs available at the center. They listened to a comprehensive introduction on the nature of the training programs that are consistent with the vision of QNA in developing national media cadres in line with best practices in this regard.

At the conclusion of the tour, the Xinhua delegation praised the advanced level of QNA and the distinguished, comprehensive, and reliable news service it provides that keeps pace with the development and modernization witnessed by the current era in terms of transformations and prosperity in the media field, in line with the rapid technical developments that have enhanced the quality of presented media material in form and content.

The delegation highlighted that they found the work team at the QNA enthusiastic, dynamic, competitive, and keen to advance QNA to be among the best media institutions not only in Qatar and the Middle East region but also in the world. They noted the similarity between QNA and Xinhua, as both are official news agencies keen to adopt common values on bases of professionalism, objectivity, accuracy, and good selection of news publishing timing, as well as their endeavor to innovate and overcome the challenges facing the media, keep pace with development in the current era, and to be important sources of news.
QNA had organized an introductory tour for the Chinese media delegation in Doha, which included the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, the Media City Qatar, the National Museum of Qatar, the Museum of Islamic Art, and other landmarks in the city. (QNA)
