The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader and Member of Parliament E T Mohamed Basheer has hailed the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC) for implementing a host of welfare, empowerment and educational initiatives.
While addressing the valedictory ceremony of Malappuram Peruma (Malappuram Carnival) by KMCC Malappuram district committee in Doha, the veteran legislator said the organisation has left an impressive mark in Qatar while reaching out to the expatriate community through its schemes. Basheer noted KMCC’s social security was an unprecedented initiative that benefited thousands.
Qatar KMCC state president Dr Abdul Samad inaugurated. District committee president Savad Veliyamkode presided. IUML Kerala state committee secretary and former Member of Kerala Legislative Assembly K M Shaji delivered the keynote address. He urged the expatriates to actively participate in the electoral process of India. Communist Marxist Party general secretary C P John praised Qatar for its efforts to ensure global peace.
The ‘Malappuram Carnival’ in its 5th edition featured sports competitions and arts and culinary festival attended by 16 KMCC constituency committees in Malappuram district. The valediction marked the distribution of prizes.
Representatives of various Indian community organisations attended the event. Lt Mohamed Ahmed Khalaf al-Shammari from Qatar Police Sports Federation, organising committee chairman K Mohamed Easa and KMCC Malappuram district office-bearers Abdul Akbar Vengasseri, Mehboob Nalakath, Ismail Hudawi and Abdul Jabbar Palakkal were present.
