A total of 114 heart patients have benefited from the ‘Nabd Endowment’ by the General Administration of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) in 2023.
This was announced by the director-general of the department Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Ghanim al-Thani during a press conference in the presence of Dr Abdul Wahed al-Mulla, head of Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at the Heart Hospital of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). The aid was given through the Endowment Bank for Health Care.
Al-Thani announced continuing the partnership with the Heart Hospital to support and assist critical cases of heart patients in need. He urged esteemed philanthropists to endow ‘Nabd Endowment’ so that it can perform the role expected of it.
Dr al-Mulla expressed his pleasure at this fruitful co-operation and its continuation and the rapid response from the General Administration of Endowments to achieve its pioneering role in society. He noted that this support will benefit many heart patients, citing that the number of beneficiaries has seen yearly increases.
The Endowment Bank for Health Care is one of the six endowment banks and was established to reinforce the historical role of health endowments in Islamic history. The bank is one of the forms of community participation and support for this important sector, among several means including caring for low-income patients in need of treatment and providing appropriate health services to them, co-operating with the competent authorities to create joint health programmes, holding educational training courses in the health field and making use of the media to spread health awareness.
