The Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar (SLMQ) organised the 76th Sri Lankan Independence Day competition at the
Stafford Sri Lankan School.
This annual event conducted by the SLMQ since 2002 is supported by the Sri Lankan embassy. The competition, which brought together over 500 Sri Lankan students from various schools across Qatar, featured an array of contests for different age groups. Prizes were presented to the best young writer, speaker, poet, artist, colourist and mastermind. Sri Lankan ambassador Mafaz Mohideen was the chief guest. Embassy officials, school principal Nimal Fernando and other guests were present.
