Qatar Charity’s Iftar tents host safety lectures for workers

In collaboration with the General Directorate for Drug Control, General Directorate of Civil Defence and the Community Police Department of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Qatar Charity continues to organise a series of awareness lectures on vital topics that concern the community in its numerous Iftar tents. The lectures, according to an official statement from MoI, are organised as part of Qatar Charity’s campaign ‘Endless Giving’. They aim to spread awareness among workers, providing them with guidance on safety procedures and measures essential for various aspects of their daily lives.These lectures are part of Qatar Charity's ongoing efforts to disseminate awareness and knowledge within the community. They aim to promote a culture of safety and personal development among all segments of society.Qatar Charity extended its gratitude to the General Directorate for Drug Control, the General Directorate of Civil Defence and the Community Police Department for their collaboration in spreading awareness among workers. "Qatar Charity expresses its hope for the continuation of this co-operation in all endeavours beneficial to the local community,” the statement said.So far, these lectures have been given during Iftar gatherings for workers at Al Murra (West), Al Hilal, and Al Najma. Similar lectures will be held at other locations until the end of Ramadan. The lectures are expected to benefit more than 7,000 labourers. The lectures cover several general topics such as drug prevention, fire safety, and community policing, aiming to teach the participants how to handle potential situations and risks in both the workplace and daily life.

• Fire prevention

During an informative lecture on the dangers of fires, Lt Khalil Rashid al-Nuaimi from the General Directorate of Civil Defence explained safety and security procedures to prevent household fires. He provided information related to safety measures, first aid, fire extinguishers, their types and how to use them. He emphasised the importance of fire prevention, its causes, handling methods, safe actions in case of fire outbreaks, communication with civil defense and evacuation procedures.

• Drug control

Lt Abdullah Saleh al-Shammari from the General Directorate of Drug Control spoke about the risks associated with drugs, highlighting the dangers of the belongings of others from and to Qatar. He also touched on the dispensing and misuse of medications and medical drugs, as well as the negative effects resulting from addiction. He emphasised the dangers of covering up crimes and the importance of reporting drug-related activities.

• Community police

Regarding community policing, Ft Lt Shahab Munir al-Shammari from the Community Police Department provided an overview of community policing, its role and its main specialties, which involve resolving all problems amicably, whether they are personal, financial, or familial. He explained how to communicate with the department and emphasised the importance of promoting community values and principles among workers and acquainting them with Qatari customs, traditions and culture as they are integral parts of the local community.
