The competitions of Katara Ramadan Beach Volleyball Championship 2024 concluded on Friday night.
The championship, organised by Katara – the Cultural Village Foundation in collaboration with Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA), took place during March 18-29. The concluding ceremony was attended by Prof Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of Katara and Ali Ghanem al-Kuwari, the president of QVA and the West Asian Volleyball Federation, alongside a large number of fans.
Accordingly, the results were announced as Team Al-Kharsaa won the first place at the championship, followed by Team Izghawa in the second place, while Team Al Ghariya secured the third place. The final night of the Championship kicked off with a match to determine the third-place winner between Hal Sharq and Al-Ghariya. Al-Ghariya secured a provisional victory (2-0) over Hal Sharq, confirming their right to step onto the podium.
Team Al-Kharsaa sealed the championship title after winning an intense and thrilling match against Team Izghawa (2-0). Besides, Team Al-Kharsaa defeated Hal Sharq by two sets to claim victory, while Team Izghawa defeated Al-Ghariya by the same score in the semi-final matches.
In the first group, Team Al-Kharsaa topped with six points, having achieved a provisional victory over Wadi Al Duhoul in the final match of the third and last round of the group. Al-Ghariya secured the second place in the group with five points, while Team Fit Up came third with four points, bidding farewell to the competition alongside Wadi Al Duhoul, who finished fourth and last with two points.
In the second group, Team Izghawa led the ranking with six points, followed by Hal Sharq with five points. Simaisma and Al Khor tied for third place with two points each, resulting in both teams exiting the competition.
Further, the conclusion ceremony of Katara Ramadan Beach Volleyball Championship saw the honouring of referees, organisers, and sponsors, along with the distribution of cash and in-kind prizes on the audience, sponsored by Oscar Gumbo Electronics, the Grand Regency Hotel and Barzan Perfumes, through a raffle draw on the free tickets.
In the meantime, Katara Electronic Games Championship concluded on Friday evening as well. It was organised by Katara as part of its Ramadan activities in collaboration with Al Taawun Group. Saif Saad al-Dosari, deputy general manager of Katara and director of Katara Human Resources Department, honoured the winners of the championship.
