On the occasion of the World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, Outreach Qatar convened an Iftar at Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), for autistic and other specially-abled children, and their parents.
Indian embassy first secretary Sachin Dinkar Shankpal, the chief guest, spoke about the importance of awareness on autism, and encouraged Outreach Qatar to continue their pursuit to serve the specially-abled children and their parents in an effort to bring them at par with the mainstream community.
President Avinash Gaikwad, advisory committee chairman P N Baburajan and popular YouTuber Nandini spoke. General secretary Sameer Moosa spoke on the essence of Ramadan and proposed a vote of thanks. Following Iftar, children gave a few performances. The segment was co-ordinated by Lakshmi Chokalingam, Naveena Priya and a team of volunteers and trainers.
The occasion also saw Outreach Qatar bidding farewell to Indian Community Benevolent Forum treasurer Kuldeep Kaur who is leaving the country for good with her husband Navin Behl. The chief guest presented a memento to Kaur in appreciation and gratitude for her services to the community.
