Future Falconers from 6 to 15 years old gave an impressive performance Saturday evening at the Promising Falconer Championship in the 16th edition of the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2025).The festival, organised by Al Gannas Qatari Society and sponsored by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, with support from the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund (Daam), runs until Feb 1.Metaib bin Mubarak al-Qahtani, chairman of Marmi Festival, said the championship is considered one of the most important championships in the festival. “It is related to the rising generations who will bear the responsibility of preserving and protecting the legacy of falconry. Marmi Festival is a fertile space for transferring the falconry heritage,” he said.The Promising Falconer Championship is held in two categories with the first as Al-Tabaa, Al-Shuwaihina, Al-Jabaliya and the second category as Al-Wakri, Al-Kubj, Al-Qarmousha.He highlighted the festival's keenness to make the falconry heritage a continuous legacy by caring for new generations of children and youth.Saad bin Ali al-Mohannadi, member of the Promising Falconer Committee, said the festival aims through these competitions to raise future falconers on the love of the heritage of fathers and grandfathers.The first place winner in each category is given QR25,000 while the second place winner gets QR20,000. The third place winner gets QR15,000 while the fourth place winner is given QR10,000 and the fifth QR 8,000.On Saturday morning, the shooting championship was held for the amateur and professional categories to compete for the first three places in each category.
