The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has advised passengers to use the e-gate services at Hamad International Airport (HIA).
"The e-gate service at Hamad International Airport facilitates smooth and easy travel procedures for citizens and residents using their passports or ID cards," MoI said in a post on its X account.
E-gates can be utilised by citizens and residents to expedite the immigration process unless travelling with children under the age of 18. E-gates have been set up for passengers to reduce the pressure on manually controlled immigration counters as part of the smart passenger project.
The facility enables passengers to complete the entry or exit process through self-service terminals, which use smart technology, without the need to approach the counter staff.
The activation of the electronic gates for residents has contributed to the quick completion of their travel procedures without standing in long queues and waiting for passport control officers to verify their data and put the departure or arrival stamp on their passports.
