The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) organized the 3rd AFC National Coaches Conference on Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Under the theme of "AFC Asian Cup 2023- The National Coaches' Perspective", the three-day conference aims to provide national team coaches as well as other members of the technical staff of the AFC's Member Associations (MAs) with the opportunity to reflect on the learnings from the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, the AFC website reported.
Setting the tone for the upcoming days, the conference commenced with the national team coaches and backroom staff from across the Continent paying tribute to Qatar for their sensational back-to-back AFC Asian Cup triumphs.
With eminent coaches such as Australia's Graham Arnold and Japan's Hajime Moriyasu in attendance, the conference will serve as an excellent opportunity for the Continent's best coaches to exchange information and share ideas, and provide the best resources for teams in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will feature 48 teams for the first time, with eight and a half slots up for grabs for Asian sides.
Welcoming the participants to the conference, AFC Technical Director Andy Roxburgh said: "In recent years, Asian football has experienced significant growth. Following the record performances at the FIFA World Cup in 2022, Asian teams continued to put on some impressive displays at the AFC Asian Cup earlier this year.
