To honour the tireless efforts of workers across various sectors while highlighting the importance of labour rights and dignity, the students of MES Indian School organised a Labour Day assembly on May 1.
Students delivered a series of performances and presentations right from exploring the historical roots of the labour movement to shedding light on contemporary challenges faced by workers globally, thus providing an insight into the significance of the day.
They brought the essence of different professions to life through costumes representing various occupations. From doctors and engineers to farmers and firefighters, the campus was transformed into a vibrant tapestry of diverse vocations, showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of the students.
In their costumes, students displayed placards carrying slogans including the rights of labour and workplace safety. These visual representations served as powerful reminders of the struggles faced by workers worldwide and underscored the students’ dedication to social justice and equality.
Principal Dr Hameeda Kadar delivered a message, emphasising the importance of acknowledging and valuing the contributions of workers in shaping society.
She urged students to embrace virtues of respect, empathy, and solidarity, championing fair working conditions and equal opportunities for all. As a gesture of recognition, the Scouts team of the school extended their gratitude to the workers by presenting them with small tokens of appreciation.
The assembly culminated with a solemn pledge taken by the students to uphold the rights of workers and actively contribute to building a more just and equitable society.
