In continuation of the activities of the 36th edition of the Doha Theatre Festival (DTF), the social comedy “Kharaba” has been presented by the Al-Watan Theatre Group, as part of the competing plays in the festival organised by the Ministry of Culture from May 25 to June 4, at the U Venue Theatre.
The play is written by Khalifa al-Sayed and directed by Salem al-Mansouri with the participation of a group of artists. The events of the comedy revolve around a family that owns a house abandoned a long time ago. Some people claim that this house is haunted by elves, and some of the members of the family want to sell the house and benefit from its money. Here, a division occurs between supporters and opponents of selling the part adjacent to the house, until unexpected surprises occur and continue.
Al-Mansouri, confirmed that the theatrical movement is in constant need of young talents who are given opportunities to hone and develop their talents. This is what the management of the Al-Watan Theatre Company and all its artists are working on. On the other hand, a seminar was held in which the critic Dr Saeed al-Naji, professor and head of the Department of Dramatic Arts at the Community College, the Jordanian actor and director Rashid Malhas, and a group of theatrical actors and those interested in theatre affairs participated. They reviewed artistic work in terms of text, direction, and the performance of the actors and other technical issues.
