The General Assembly of Qatar Charity (QC) held its 33rd ordinary annual meeting in the presence chairperson HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jasim al-Thani and members of the Board of Directors, and the General Assembly.
The annual report of the Board of Directors regarding Qatar Charity’s performance and financial statements, as well as its work results for the previous year 2023, was reviewed. The final statement of account for the same fiscal year was approved, and the Board of Directors was discharged from liability for the concluded financial year. Additionally, the participants approved the estimated budget for the current year 2024.
In his opening speech, the chairperson stated that the year 2023 witnessed an increase in the volume of humanitarian crises, indicating that QC exerted its utmost efforts to fulfill its humanitarian duty and effectively contribute to saving lives and alleviating the suffering of those affected by humanitarian crises around the world.
QC continued to respond to several complex and ongoing humanitarian needs, starting from the crisis in Gaza to the ongoing conflicts in Sudan and Yemen, he noted. QC also responded to various natural disasters, notably the earthquake in Turkiye and northern Syria, floods in Afghanistan and Libya, and the earthquake in Morocco, in addition to addressing the acute food security crisis in Somalia.
He mentioned the total expenditure abroad by QC amounted to more than QR858mn, benefiting over 9.5mn beneficiaries. He also emphasised that QC focused on providing quality programmes and interventions within Qatar, believing in the importance of providing support and assistance to the local community, with total amount of more than QR385mn.
In conclusion, he extended his highest gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani. He also thanked hundreds of thousands of donors, benefactors, volunteers, supporters, and partners, expressing his hope that the journey of giving would continue, achieving a dignified life for all.
