Amir, Ukraine president discuss efforts to stop fighting, keep talks open

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met at his office in Lusail Palace Wednesday with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his accompanying delegation.The meeting dealt with the latest developments in Ukraine, especially the efforts of the international community to stop the fighting and protect civilians, and keep all channels of communication open to resolve the crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means, in addition to discussing relations between the two countries and prospects for strengthening them.The Ukrainian president also thanked His Highness the Amir for Qatar's efforts in reuniting Ukrainian children with their families in Ukraine, as part of its ongoing mediation aimed at reuniting families separated by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani; HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani; and HE Minister of State for International Co-operation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater attended the meeting along with a lineup of senior officials.On the Ukrainian side, the meeting was attended by Ambassador of Ukraine Andrii Kuzmenko and senior members of the official delegation accompanying the president.His Highness the Amir and the Ukrainian president held a bilateral meeting during which they discussed the overall co-operation relations between the two countries, in addition to discussing a host of issues of common concern.His Highness the Amir hosted a dinner banquet in honour of the president of Ukraine, and his accompanying delegation.
