The Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) has condemned, in the strongest terms, the bombing by the Israeli occupation forces of a school belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.
The GCC Secretary-General Jassim Mohamed al-Budaiwi, said in a statement that the Israeli bombing, which targeted a school housing displaced people and left dozens killed and injured, “constitutes compelling evidence of the brutality of the Israeli occupation forces and their blatant disregard for international conventions, agreements and treaties.” The GCC chief called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and put pressure on the Israeli occupation forces to stop their gross and dangerous violations against the Palestinian people, stressing the need to take strict measures against the heinous crimes that contradict the most basic principles of international and humanitarian law.
The statement reiterated the firm positions of the Gulf Co-operation Council countries towards the Palestinian issue, as it is the central and first issue for Arabs and Muslims, and supported the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
