Fahad al-Obaidly, deputy director of Design Doha, will serve on the jury for the second edition of the Arab World Design Award 2024.

The award aims to highlight emerging and established designers from the Arab world, with a view to demonstrating know-how, productive genius, and the creation of new materials.

Design Doha is a new Qatar Museums biennial aimed at elevating the design culture of the Mena region and highlighting the exceptional design environment of Qatar on the global stage.

The inaugural edition launched in February and was marked by a week of new exhibition openings, special events and programmes, attracting design leaders, creative tourists, designers, and artists from around the world.

A creative strategist with over a decade of experience in the industry, al-Obaidly works at the forefront of the growing creative movement and is a key figure in driving innovation and empowering creative entrepreneurs in Qatar and the Mena region.

In a press statement, al-Obaidly said: “It is a privilege to be on the jury panel for this prestigious award, which shares our mission of spotlighting designers from the Mena region and sustaining a platform for them to showcase their creative brilliance. I look forward to seeing the entries for the 2024 awards and celebrating the emerging talent in the design world.”

The open call will continue to receive entries until July 7, and projects will be recognised in categories of emerging talent, confirmed talent, and entrepreneurial talent. The winners will receive their prize during a ceremony at the Institute of the Arab World, as part of Paris Design Week.
