Qatar Museums announces exciting festive activities, 1-day closure for Eid

Qatar Museums (QM) will host various festive activities in celebration of Eid al-Adha. In the lead up to the occasion, the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) will run a series of workshops to engage families with the world of art and culture and build the festive spirit, and Dadu, Children’s Museum of Qatar are organising two days of activities over the public holiday, titled 'From Our Family to Yours: Eid Joy and Celebrations'.In addition, QM will close all of its venues on June 16 in observance of Eid al-Adha, and resume their regular operating hours thereafter: Saturday through Thursday from 9am to 7pm, and Fridays from 1.30pm to 7pm. The activities hosted by NMoQ are:• Lucky Bird Storytelling on June 13 from 10am to 12pmNMoQ invites families to come and enjoy the storytelling of Hesse’s family and the lucky bird and their celebration of Eid al-Adha, followed by a fun hands-on activity of the sheep of Eid al-Adha. This activity is in Arabic only.• Eidya Envelope Design on June 13 from 10am to 12pmThis activity invites families to let their creativity flow and spread joy this Eid by customising a money envelope for Eidya, a special gesture of giving back. Registration is not required for this drop-in activity.Dadu: Children’s Museum of Qatar’s activities will take place on June 17 and 18 from 4pm to 8pm at NMoQ The activities are:• Glowing Eid CardsMake your Eid Card light up using a special circuit with an LED, coin battery, and copper tape.Combining art and engineering sparks curiosity and interest in science and encourages creative expression• Bottle HarpUsing imagination and repurposed materials to make a musical instrument.• Sing-alongMusic and celebration are closely connected to local traditions of Eid.• Gasa’aMake your own henna design or use a Dadu stencil. This activity fosters hand-eye co-ordination and leaves room for children to make choices and express their creativity.• Sheep Obstacle RaceWork together as a family to walk the sheep around the obstacle track.• Family Nest BuildingExplore creativity and family crafting by making your own family nest.• Kaaba and PuppetsIn this activity, children learn the values of Haj and how to perform rituals linked with Kaaba. This open play activity invites you to share your own families’ stories of the Haj. Puppets are great ways for your child to learn new routines and act out stories related to your families’ traditions.
