As graduates of schools and universities within Qatar Foundation’s (QF) unique ecosystem of education make their mark across the US and Canada, a new network has been launched for them to strengthen their connections, help each other to achieve their goals, and retain their ties to Qatar.

The QF Alumni Chapter for the US and Canada – sponsored by the Qatar Cultural Attaché Office at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Washington D.C. - has been established with the goal of supporting the 100-plus graduates currently advancing their careers and studies in North America.

The network, is the first QF Alumni Chapter, with North America being chosen due to the large number of QF graduates now based there. Across the US and Canada, graduates of QF-based universities are now working in fields including healthcare, education, engineering and technology, commerce, and the cultural and social world, as lawyers, engineers, doctors, educators, artists, and in many other roles.

“For more than 25 years, Qatar Foundation has been committed to providing quality, relevant, and meaningful education to thousands of students from across the world,” Francisco Marmolejo, president of Higher Education and Education Advisor, QF, told US- and Canada-based QF alumni at a New York event to launch the Chapter.

“Over the years, our network of alumni has grown around the world. Graduates of our universities are now based in more than 120 countries, and many of them are in the US and Canada – striving to advance their careers and ambitions, and making positive contributions to the communities within which they live and work.

“The vibrant QF alumni community in the US and Canada is testimony to how Qatar Foundation is nurturing capable, well-rounded, and value-driven humans who are committed to leading and shaping their societies. Through this Chapter, we aim to foster an enduring, dynamic, engaged, and continually connected community of QF graduates – all taking different paths, but bonded by the shared fact that they are alumni of QF.”

From New York, Boston, Houston, California, and Pittsburgh in the US to Canadian cities such as Toronto and Montreal, alumni of QF partner universities established in Education City in Doha, as well as QF’s Qatar Academy schools, are applying the skills and knowledge they gained within the QF ecosystem in high-level positions, as well as specialised fields such as precision health and sustainability.

The new chapter has been designed to enable QF alumni to collaborate on projects, drive innovation, and share knowledge, best practices, and experiences with each other, and participate in social and cultural events that strengthen their connection to Qatar, as well as providing a professional development platform through lectures, mentorship programs, and links to industry.

Across two decades, over 18,000 students have graduated from schools and universities within QF’s ecosystem of education, with a global network of alumni being cultivated by the QF Alumni Programme that is open for all of them to join. More details can be found at www.alumni.qf.org.qa
