Nando's Qatar participated in the Africa Day celebration hosted by the Africa Diplomatic Group of Qatar, a statement said. Nando's Qatar, renowned for its Afro-Portuguese cuisine, especially its flame-grilled Peri-Peri Chicken, was invited to the event by the Embassy of South Africa.

Commemorating the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, it was a colourful and lively event, showcasing Africa's unity, rich cultural diversity and potential for growth and development. Ambassadors from countries with embassies in Doha, along with other dignitaries accredited to Qatar, including heads of international organisations, leaders of diverse expatriate communities, advocates and supporters of African causes, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.

Each of the 39 African countries with embassies in Doha was allocated a table to exhibit its national cuisine and culture. The South African Embassy and Nando’s Qatar collaborated to represent South Africa, showcasing the nation's rich culinary traditions and vibrant culture. "As a brand deeply dedicated to Southern African culture, Nando's Qatar was thrilled to have the opportunity to share the vibrant warmth, unique flavours, and exceptional hospitality that are the defining characteristics of our heritage," it was explained.

South African ambassador Ghulam Hoosein Asmal thanked Nando’s Qatar for their active participation and emphasised the important role of cultural exchange and collaboration in nurturing mutual understanding and fostering enduring friendships between nations, the statement added.
