The various departments of the Ministry of Municipality have intensified their preparations for Eid al-Adha, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported. All municipalities have ramped up their inspection campaigns and visits to food establishments to ensure the safety of food on display at the local markets.

Both the Public Parks Department and the Public Cleanness Departments are also working on completing the maintenance of public parks and cleaning the various beaches across the country. Preparations include increasing the supervision of slaughterhouses to ensure their readiness to receive sacrificial animals, stressing the implementation of precautionary and health measures to ensure smooth operations, and intensifying health inspections of restaurants and health facilities for compliance with all standard health requirements.

The Ministry of Municipality pointed out that such inspection tours will continue round the clock until the end of the Eid holidays. These inspections cover all food supply and packaging companies, butcheries, catering kitchens, shopping malls, consumer complexes, sweet and nut shops, vegetable and fruit shops, and tourist and recreational areas, which see increased public turnout. The aim is to ensure the safety of food products and the adherence of the workers at these places to the health regulations.

The work plans include carrying out awareness and inspection campaigns aimed at raising the work standards of food establishments, educating workers on proper and healthy food handling practices, ensuring the application of necessary health requirements, and taking food samples for examination at the central laboratories to ensure their suitability for human consumption.

In the meantime, the emergency and complaint teams at the health control sections will be on high alert to receive notes and emergency reports through specialised teams and provide the adequate responses within 24 hours on a daily basis.

Further, the Public Cleanness Department has continued its efforts to clean the beaches, guide and educate the public on the etiquette and regulations of using public beaches during the holidays. The department has provided adequate trash bins there and introduced more instruction signs, and inspectors will enforce violations and take legal action against those who violate the Public Hygiene Law.

The department has cleaned and swept the main streets and prayer yards in preparation for Eid, besides the public areas, cities, and the residential neighbourhoods.
