Doha College, one of Qatar's oldest international schools, recently held its annual Award Ceremony to celebrate the outstanding achievements of over 200 students.The event recognised various categories, including subject awards for each year group, school values awards for students who demonstrated diligence, integrity, perseverance and respect, as well as awards for outstanding work with the Doha College Model United Nations, student leadership, charitable causes, and more.Attended by parents, staff and governors, the ceremony had among its highlights instrumental music and drama segments by students.Myesha Shaikh (Year 9) and Aamna Zahid (Year 11) received three subject awards each. Myesha was honoured for art, mathematics, and Qatar history, while Aamna was recognised for geography, Islamic studies, and physics.The Council of British International Schools (COBIS) granted student achievement awards to three Doha College pupils: Prabhav Srivastava for "Outstanding effort", Saoirse Burness and Aleeza Ahmed, for "Commitment to a charitable cause". This brought Prabhav's awards count to three, as he was also recognised for his integrity and musical performance.The "awards hat-trick” was also achieved by Maryam Abdur-Razzaq (Year 8), Mariam Elantably, Ria Gokul, and Arwa Elrayess, all in Year 13. Maryam won the Arabic as a second language award, the science award and the diligence award. Mariam took home the trophies for mathematics, physics, and for her contribution to the DC Model United Nations (DCMUN); Ria was awarded for biology, chemistry and DCMUN, while Arwa was awarded for economics, history, and her work as the head girl.A highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of next year’s student leadership team, including the new head boy, head girl, deputy head boy, head girl, and senior prefects, affectionately known as the "Big Six.” They will work alongside numerous committees to enhance the student experience at Doha College.Jerome Scafe, head of secondary at Doha College, said: "Our annual awards ceremony is a fantastic way of recognising outstanding attitude to learning, alignment and embodiment of our school values as well as exceptional academic achievement.
