Marine and water sports has seen considerable participation over the past few weeks, especially among young people and families.Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that as the temperature outdoors rises, many are turning to such marine activities for recreational purposes, including fishing, water skiing, swimming and boat trips.Many young people and families stressed that they have been keen to take their children with them on such excursions to keep them away from their mobile devices.Ibrahim al-Mannai said that he is very keen to practice his marine hobbies and sports during the summer holidays.He said that being out in the sea helps mitigate the high weather temperature.Al-Mannai stressed that strictly following safety procedures and wearing the necessary safety gear are of utmost importance when practicing marine sports, especially jet skiing.He added that going out to the sea during the summer holidays is good for children, as it encourages them to adopt a more active lifestyle instead of being “glued” to their smart devices.Rashid al-Sulaiti said that while the country has many wonderful beaches, he prefers Katara's beach due to its proximity to his house.He said that the beach has ample parking area and easily accessible for jet skis.Khalifa al-Anzi said that while going to the sea on boats is a very exciting activity during the summer holidays, sea-goers should follow the instructions of the coast guard for their own safety.They should check the weather conditions, he continued, before starting any trip to sea to determine whether conditions would be suitable for sailing.Al-Anzi strongly recommended that young people avoid reckless activities at sea, and try to enjoy their time in a responsible way.Abdulrahman al-Kubaisi said that the suitable timing for practicing water sports during the summer months is between 4pm-9pm.He said that the Qatari islands are excellent places to go to during this weather, especially given that that some of them boast of facilities catering to sea goers.Al-Kubaisi advised young people to avoid stunt driving of their jet skis, especially if they do not have enough skill and experience doing so.
