The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has initiated a comprehensive inspection campaign on several beaches and wild areas during the Eid al-Adha holidays to promote environmental conservation among the community.
In a statement, the ministry stated that the campaign, organized by the Wildlife Protection Department and running until June 22, aims to raise awareness about sustainable practices and behaviours. Participants in the campaign will educate the public about environmental violations and the laws and regulations issued by the state to protect the local environment, contributing to the development of wildlife.
Director of the Wildlife Protection Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Hamad Salem al-Nuaimi, explained that the campaign was planned for the Eid al-Adha holiday to inform beachgoers and visitors to wild areas about practices and violations that harm the local environment. He emphasised that maintaining the local environment's sustainability is a responsibility for all residents of Qatar, both citizens and residents.
He added that the campaign is part of the ministry's efforts to preserve biodiversity achievements, with plants and animals flourishing and expanding in Qatar's wilderness, significantly increasing the green cover. He noted the efforts of the ministry's reserves sector in launching numerous projects and initiatives aimed at protecting the local environment.
Regarding the campaign's implementation stages, the Director of the Wildlife Protection Department explained that the extensive campaign includes several smaller campaigns conducted simultaneously, each targeting a specific area to raise awareness and inspect specific types of violations, thereby achieving the goals of each campaign.
He further explained that the first campaign is dedicated to enforcing the ban on camel roaming in the Qatari wilderness, according to Ministerial Decision No. 23 of 2023, and to raising awareness about the harm of littering. The second campaign targets coastal areas frequented by the public during the holiday, focusing on cleaning the beaches of harmful waste. The third campaign aims to inspect and raise awareness about violations on the northern coasts and their environmental impact, alongside an awareness and inspection campaign on crushers operating in various parts of the country.
Director of the Wildlife Protection Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Hamad Salem al-Nuaimi, highlighted that the final awareness and inspection campaigns will target the Khor Al Adaid and Sealine areas, where teams will educate sea-goers about the key environmental protection laws in Qatar.
