The 2nd West Asian Clubs Athletics Championship will kick off at Qatar SC's Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium on Monday, with the participation of 400 male and female athletes representing 13 countries.Athletes will compete in 23 events, including Sprints: 100m, 200m, and 400m; Middle/Long: 800m, 1500m, and 3000m, 5000m; Hurdles: 110m and 400m; 3000m Steeplechase; Relays: 4100m and 4400m; among others.Following its official recognition by World Athletics, West Asian Clubs Athletics Championship has become a valuable opportunity for athletes to qualify for upcoming global sporting tournaments, such as the 26th Asian Athletics Championships to take place in South Korea in July and the World Athletics Championships to take place in Japan in September.Championship Director, Khalid Al Suwaidi, has said that all arrangements are set for the launch of the West Asian Championship, noting that a meeting was held recently to go over preparations in the attendance of West Asian Athletics Association and participating clubs' representatives.Al Suwaidi expected the Championship to see fierce competition and many technical successes and wished Qatari athletes good luck, especially given the numerous challenges they have faced this season.
