Trained by Francois Rohaut and ridden by Anthony Crastu, Mureb won the Gr 2 (PA) Qatar Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes, sponsored by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC), at Chantilly in France, on Wednesday.
After a promising debut by winning the Prix Norniz (PA) last month, the three-year-old Mureb, found another gear in the second start of his career, to win the race.
Al Asayl France-owned Mureb travelled well behind the leader Safre Tourettes. After entering the home stretch, the grey gelding tried to make headway on the inside of the leader, but the gap quickly closed and he dropped to the last. Once in the clear, Mureb showed a turn of foot to beat Al Jori by half a length. Wasib came third.
“The horse showed a flash of class today. He has really accelerated and has a lot of room for improvement,” Crastus said.
