The State of Qatar has participated in the recently concluded meeting of international participants for Expo Osaka 2025, which was held in Japan’s city of Nara.

The meeting was attended by Jaber bin Jarallah al-Marri, ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan and Commissioner General for Expo Osaka 2025, along with Qatar’s delegation for the preparation and planning committee for Qatar's participation in the global expo.

Members of the International Bureau of Expositions, as well as heads of delegations from participating countries and several senior Japanese officials, were also in attendance.

The meeting of the Commissioner Generals of the countries participating in Expo Osaka 2025 was held to elect a president for the body, who will also chair the steering committee. Elections for the members of the steering committee, whose tasks include addressing issues of common interest to the official participants in the exhibition, were also organised.

On the sidelines of the larger meetings, several focused meetings were held with senior Japanese officials and companies that will be implementing the global Expo, in addition to a site visit to Qatar’s pavilion location at Expo Osaka 2025.

It is worth mentioning that Qatar laid the foundation stone for its pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 in April this year, which will cover a total area of approximately 1,292sq m. The pavilion will highlight the history, heritage, and future prospects of Qatar, in light of its journey towards achieving its 2030 national vision.

The design elements of the pavilion are inspired by a blend of common features and factors between Qatari and Japanese cultures, particularly aspects related to the use of wood in making traditional Qatari dhows and sails and constructing ancient Japanese houses.

This reflects Qatar's keenness to strengthen the existing friendship and co-operation with Japan and solidify it in various sectors and fields of common interest to support sustainable prosperity and growth in both friendly countries.

Expo Osaka 2025 will be held from April 13, 2024 to October 13, 2025, in Osaka, Japan.
