Qatar Museums (QM) announced a lineup of activities and events for July, featuring summer camps, arts and crafts workshops, museum tours, storytelling sessions, and a Family Day. The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) will host various programmes throughout July, including a summer camp, digital workshops, and a tour of the artificial intelligence (AI) Centre.
Summer Camp: Wealth of Qatar (for ages 8 to 10): July 1 to 3
9am – 12pm - Participants will learn about traditional Qatari beliefs, culture, and pearl diving, and then work together to create a large-scale mural that reflects their collective understanding and interpretation of Qatari culture.
Workshop: Design for Games (for ages 11 to 18) - July 7 and 9
10am – 1pm - This two-day workshop promises to teach participants the secrets of digital design and the magic behind bringing your game concept to life. No prior experience needed.
Tour: AI Centre Open Door - July 11
10am – 1pm - Ignite your imagination while exploring NMoQ’s projects, or work on your own in the computer lab. Workshop: Chatbot (for ages 12 to 18) - July 18 and 25
10am – 1pm - Basics using Botpress, with hands-on activities and fun challenges.
QM’s Archaeology and Heritage department will host summer camps titled Artefacts Workshop for children and adults. The programmes will be held at Fahd Bin Ali Palace.
Summer Camp: Artefacts Workshop (for kids) - July 8
10.30am – 12pm - Help archaeologists sort pottery according to its shape, size, material, colour and wear patterns and discover what the objects are used for. Participants should bring a filled, reusable water bottle.
Summer Camp: Artefacts Workshop (for adults) - July 10
4pm – 5.30pm - Learn about different types of artifacts and eco facts, and help archaeologists sort pottery according to their typology. Please bring a filled, reusable water bottle.
Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art will host workshops on animation and story/book production. Beyond the Frame: Youth Animation Workshop. July 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 13
3pm – 5pm. The workshop provides a hands-on introduction to the techniques involved in creating stop motion animated films.
Workshop: Let’s Make Books & Stories - July 15 and 17
4pm – 6pm - This programme combines stories and handcrafted arts, in which children perform a set of interconnected activities (writing a story, making a book cover, learning about the artistic atmosphere of Mathaf).
The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) will host storytelling sessions, various art workshops for children and adults, and a Family Day activity. Story Time at MIA Library - July 1
