The Umm Al Seneem Park in Doha's Ain Khalid area, with its Guinness World Record 1.143km air-conditioned track, has become a haven for those seeking a comfortable outdoor workout experience during summer.

Speaking to Gulf Times, Mohamed Nasereldin, a Sudanese car mechanic and Qatar resident for 25 years, highlighted the park’s appeal, stating that it is more than a green area. He sees it as a refuge for fitness, relaxation, and for studying as well.

The Umm Al Seneem Park, he noted, is an ideal place to unwind due to its air-conditioned track, stunning views, and serene atmosphere, “making it a truly special place to clear my head and recharge”.

“I like kickboxing too. Running here at the Umm Al Seneem Park is absolutely amazing,” Nasereldin said. Open between 3pm and 11pm, the temperature-controlled track allows visitors to maintain their fitness routines regardless of the outside heat. The park also features a variety of amenities designed to cater to diverse needs, including toilets, drinking fountains, and ample parking areas.

Many visitors were also seen using the park’s fitness box, as well as several dedicated fitness equipment spread across the park, in addition to a bicycle path, and children’s play areas.

Nasereldin expressed optimism that the park, with its unique offerings, has the potential to become a popular destination for residents and visitors year-round, similar to the iconic Central Park in New York.

“I do not jog every day (here) because I have a busy schedule at work, but every time I have the chance I visit this place. My home is near here,” he said. “Since the temperature is high (now), I prefer to run in this park but during the winter I also visit other places”.

Nasereldin reiterated the park’s allure, noting that it extends beyond fitness as families gather to enjoy picnics: “The atmosphere is really welcoming, aside from the security, the people who come here are very friendly”.

Children are drawn to the park’s vibrant atmosphere, engaging in activities like football and enjoying the playground. Raken, an Egyptian child, expressed his love for the park, saying: “We love this place and we play football here a lot”, while playing with his friends Ibrahim and Arthian, who are both from Pakistan.

Many visitors, like Egyptian expatriate Yasim, were seen using a number of fitness equipment to burn some calories while other families spend time to play badminton.
