TotalEnergies has announced the recognition of outstanding safety achievements and operational excellence among its partner QatarEnergy LNG, and contractor, SAIPEM.
Mansur Zhakupov, TotalEnergies country chair and managing director of TotalEnergies EP Qatar, presented three distinguished awards to recognise the “remarkable” accomplishments within QatarEnergy LNG's operations.
These are the HSE Award for five years without LTI in N2 operations, the achievement of 20mn safe manhours on the EPCOL Project and the ‘Beyond Excellence Award 2023’ for operational excellence and outstanding performance in safety, operations, and production.
These awards reflect QatarEnergy LNG's unwavering dedication to safety and operational excellence. Its outstanding safety records both in operations of QatarEnergy LNG N2 Asset and in project execution, during a complex and dynamic development phase, brilliantly showcase this dedication.
With exceptional operational performances, QatarEnergy LNG has set new industry standards” said Zhakupov, while presenting the awards in the presence of Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani, CEO, QatarEnergy LNG.
Significant achievements by QatarEnergy LNG include two consecutive years of producing 16mn tonnes of LNG and innovative approaches to increase the utilisation of LNG Train 4 by treating additional gas. Furthermore, the planned shutdown on Train 5 was executed safely and on schedule in late 2023, contributing to the integrity and maintenance of the operation's critical components, including the integrity works and maintenance of the liquefaction process turbines.
In a separate event held late 2023 at Karimun Yard in Indonesia, SAIPEM, the main contractor for the North Field Production Sustainability project (EPCOL), was also awarded by TotalEnergies Qatar for upholding 15mn manhours without incident as of October 2023.
Their expertise in design, engineering, procurement, supply, construction, and installation of critical offshore gas infrastructures has contributed to the project's success.
TotalEnergies is a long-term partner of QatarEnergy LNG, holding an 8.35% stake in N2 common shares and a 16.7% participation in Train 5. With its two LNG mega trains, N2 asset produces 16mn tons of LNG per year representing 20% of national production.
This recognition of QatarEnergy LNG's safety and operational excellence, therefore, exemplifies the strong partnership between the two companies.
