Editor-in-Chief of Gulf Times Faisal Abdulhameed al-Mudahka, accompanied by fellow editors-in-chief and media leaders, attended the closing session of the Shura Council Monday, on an invitation from the Speaker of the Shura Council, HE Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim.

The Shura Council concluded its third regular session of the first legislative term at the Tamim bin Hamad Hall.

At a special session, HE al-Ghanim stressed the important role of journalism and the unique experience of popular participation in its third year. The session was attended by HE Dr Hamda bint Hassan al-Sulaiti, the Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, and HE the Secretary-General Nayef bin Mohammed al-Mahmoud.

After the meeting, HE al-Ghanim, in a post on his X account said: "Today, I was pleased with the presence of a number of local media leaders at the closing session of the third session of the first legislative term of the #Shura_Council, and I was pleased with our fruitful meeting following the session, where we exchanged conversations about the vital role that the media plays in conveying facts and building community awareness.

"The power of the media is evident in its ability to convey the voice of the citizen and reflect the pulse of the street.

During the meeting, he appreciated the great role played by the media, and praised their distinguished performance and great interest in conveying the news of the Shura Council. Without a doubt, the media is an important partner in promoting the development and prosperity of our country. I wish our local media success and prosperity, and may they remain an example of honesty and high professionalism.
