Qatar hosted Monday the third meeting of the GCC Cybersecurity Executive Committee with the participation of the undersecretaries of ministries and deputies of the bodies and centres concerned with cybersecurity in the region.
In his opening speech, Adviser to the President of National Cybersecurity Agency, Abdullah bin Jassim al-Sayed, stressed the importance of enhancing international co-operation, and praised the efforts of the technical committees affiliated with the Executive Committee in preparing the Gulf Cybersecurity Strategy.
He noted the need to intensify efforts during the coming periods to achieve the common goals between the countries of the region within the framework of the strategy, and urged the encouragement and development of scientific research and innovation in the field of cybersecurity.
The director of the Telecommunications and E-Government Department at the GCC General Secretariat, Maher bin Abdullah al-Saleh, praised the efforts of Qatar and the interest and continuous support it gives to the progress of the Co-operation Council in various fields.
Topics on the agenda discussed included the Gulf Cybersecurity Strategy, the first Gulf Cybersecurity Hackathon, and the Gulf Cyber Exercises scheduled to be held in Doha in November.
The meeting also discussed the agenda of the next GCC Cybersecurity Ministerial Committee meeting due in Doha in October.
