The Finnish Parliament has approved the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) with the United States.

According to Finnish media, the Parliament unanimously approved the DCA between Finland and the United States, noting that under this agreement, Finland will provide the United States with access to 15 military facilities.

Relations between Helsinki and Moscow became tense, following the military operation launched by Russia against Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, which prompted Finland to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in April 2023, officially becoming the 31st member of the alliance, and thus abandoning the policy of military non-alignment which has been adopted for three decades.

Finland shares a 1,340 km border with Russia.
