At the beginning of the session, the president of Kazakhstan welcomed His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation, appreciating the Amir's acceptance of the invitation to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
He also expressed his aspiration to enhance co-operation relations between the two friendly countries at various levels and areas of bilateral co-operation.
For his part, His Highness the Amir expressed his sincere thanks to the president for the warm reception and the invitation to participate in the summit, expressing his happiness with the level of co-operation and friendship relations between the two countries, which he looks forward to pushing to broader horizons through the visit, in a way that achieves the interests of the two friendly peoples.
The talks dealt with developing and strengthening co-operation relations, in addition to exchanging views on the most prominent regional and international developments of common interest.
His Highness the Amir and the Kazakh president also exchanged views on the issues and topics on the SCO summit agenda.
The session was attended by HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani; HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi; HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Thani; HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi, and a number of members of the official delegation.
On the Kazakh side, it was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu; Deputy Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Qatar-Kazakhstan Joint Higher Committee, Serik Zhumangarin; Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for external affairs, Erzhan Kazykhan; Minister of Finance Erulan Jamaubaev; Minister of Energy, Almassadam Satkaliyev, and a number of senior officials.
His Highness the Amir and the Kazakh President held a bilateral meeting during which they discussed ways to enhance co-operation between the two friendly countries and a number of issues of mutual interest.
His Highness the Amir also attended a dinner banquet hosted by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the Presidential Center, in honour of the Heads of State and Government participating in the SCO Summit.
