Qatar Stars League champions Al Sadd will be holding their preparatory camp for the new season (2024-25) in the Spanish city of Malaga, the club announced on Wednesday.

The club stated on the “X” platform that the team will be holding a preparatory camp at the Marbella Football Center in Malaga from July 9 to 29, and that the camp will include a number of friendly matches in order to reach full readiness before the start of the new edition of the local league competitions from August 9.

Al Sadd are also preparing for the AFC Champions League Elite with the first edition of the continental tournaments at the club level set to start in mid-September.

Al Sadd won the Qatari Stars League and the prestigious Amir Cup last season and are looking forward to continuing their brilliance in the new season while also excelling at the continental level having won two AFC Champions League titles in 1989 and 2011.


Al Rayyan renews contracts of young trio

Meanwhile, Al Rayyan Club has renewed contracts of the team’s young trio of Osama al-Tairi, Abdullah al-Ali and Tamim Mansour for five years until 2029.

Al Rayyan Club said on the X platform: “In the context of the club’s management’s efforts to keep young players within the team, the contracts of Tamim Mansour Muftah, Osama al-Tairi and Abdullah al-Ali have been renewed until 2029.”

Al Rayyan earlier had announced the renewal of the contract with Abdullah al-Menhali, the club’s first football team player, until 2027, while Saud al-Hajri, the team’s goalkeeper, decided to retire from football after a career spanning 20 years.

Moroccan Ashraf Bencharki also left, along with Portuguese Leonardo Jardim, the team’s coach. Al Rayyan have also signed goalkeeper Sami Habib Beldi, coming from Umm Salal, until 2029.

The team had launched their training in Doha two days ago

in preparation for the new season (2024-25) ahead of their overseas training camp in Netherlands from July 10 to 29.

Al Rayyan finished the last season of Qatar Stars League in second place with 47 points, just two points behind champions Al Sadd. Al Rayyan also qualified for the Qatar Cup final but lost to Al Wakrah.
