As part of its summer programme, the Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA) recently organised an event – the Support Group for Children with Diabetes and Families – at the association's building in Al Muntazah.

The support group acts as a social networking platform for parents of children diagnosed with diabetes under the auspices of the health team of the Qatar Diabetes Association.

The programme aims to provide recreational activities for children and at the same time provides support to the parents through group discussions.

The summer programmes covers upcoming activities for all age groups of people diagnosed with diabetes.

"Being involved and engaging in a diabetes support group is hugely beneficial, as connecting with others facing the same challenges allows you to ease the burden of responsibilities by sharing information, tips and experiences, and not feeling different,” said QDA executive director Dr Abdulla al-Hamaq. “Parent participants can also discover help and assistance in many forms."
