The Qatar Press Center (QPC) on Saturday denounced the Israeli army’s targeting of journalists’ homes and locations inside Gaza, which is a blatant violation of international law and a heinous crime to silence free media and obstruct its transmission of the truth to the world.

During the past 24 hours 5 journalists were martyred in two Israeli raids on the Nuseirat camp and Gaza City.

The Center confirmed that the Israeli occupation continues to pursue a clear policy of arresting and killing journalists in Gaza and the West Bank. To hide the genocidal massacres committed by Israel against civilians, and to prevent media professionals from showing the truth to the world.

The Center called on the international community to condemn the targeting of journalists in Gaza by bombing their homes and the homes of their families, in addition to arrest and intimidation, and calls for pressure on Israel to release detained male and female journalists and media professionals, who are languishing in Israeli prisons, in compelling circumstances that deprive them of the most basic prisoners’ rights stipulated in the international laws and conventions.

At the dawn of Saturday, 3 journalists, including a journalist and his wife, were martyred as a result of the occupation bombing of a house in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

On Friday evening, two Palestinian journalists were killed as a result of an Israeli raid that targeted a house in the al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City.

With the martyrdom of the five journalists, the toll since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip rises to 158 Palestinian journalists.

According to the government media office in Gaza, the five journalists who were recently martyred are “the director of Deep Shot Media Production Company, Saadi Madoukh, the journalist in the same company, Adeeb Sukkar, the journalist at the Palestine Media Agency, Amjad Jahjouh, and Wafaa Abu Dabaan, a programmer and presenter at the Islamic University of Gaza Radio”, and journalist at the Palestine Media Agency, Rizq Abu Ashkian.”

More than once, the government media office and human rights organizations have warned that the Israeli army, since the start of the war on Gaza, has been deliberately targeting Palestinian journalists to prevent the reporting of “crimes” committed in Gaza.
