The State of Qatar stressed its full support for the Libyan political track, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and all peaceful solutions that maintain unity, stability, and sovereignty of Libya; and achieve the aspiration of its fraternal people for security, peace, development, and prosperity.
In the State of Qatar's statement during the interactive dialogue on the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on providing technical assistance and capacity building to improve the human rights situation in Libya, within the 56th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Third Secretary at the Department of Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Abdullah Nasser Al Khalifa, voiced Qatar's condemnation of all violations committed against the fraternal people of Libya. He urged all Libyan parties to respect their obligations under international laws and agreements, avoid escalation, resort to the voice of wisdom, overcome differences through dialogue, give priority to the national interest, create appropriate conditions for holding national presidential and parliamentary elections in all parts of Libya, promote transitional justice and national reconciliation, and ensure accountability for all violations committed against Libyans.
He also urged the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the international community to continue cooperation with the Libyan authorities, develop and implement technical assistance programs, build capabilities in line with the priorities set by Libya that contribute to building its national institutions and ensuring the rule of law, strengthening the capabilities to confront illegal immigration and combat human trafficking, and promoting and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms.
